Arizona State linebacker Vontaze Burfict has agreed to terms on a contract with the Cincinnati Bengals, a source with knowledge of the situation told NFL Network on Saturday. “I didn’t get drafted like I wanted to, but I’m blessed to be on an NFL team,” Burfict said, according to the Arizona State University State Press. Bengals coach Marvin Lewis worked out Burfict during Arizona State’s pro day, and according to Cincinnati.com the two kept in touch. “I feel comfortable being coached by him,” Burfict said of Lewis. “I know that I’m a first-, second-round pick and the Bengals got a [...]

It might be a little to soon to really tell if there’s truly something behind this new rumor, but it seems that the bad news keep on building up against the New Orleans Saints. This has been a troubled offseason for the Saints, probably it’s roughest ever. And we are talking about a team in a city that in 2005 was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. When the Saints General Manager Mick Loomis and the head coach Sean Peyton and starting quarterback Drew Brees were able to guide this team into winning a Super Bowl a couple of season ago, the [...]

NEW YORK — Peyton Manning is the Denver Broncos’ quarterback of the present. No one — not even Manning — knows how long his post-surgery reboot in the Rockies will last. That’s why the Broncos selected Arizona State quarterback Brock Osweiler with the No. 57 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. This always was the plan. Even when Tim Tebow was in town, the Broncos wanted to develop a “traditional” quarterback for the future. Acquiring Manning doesn’t change that. “I don’t think it’s one of those things where Peyton Manning feels threatened by any stretch,” Broncos coach John Fox [...]

The Colt McCoy era could be over by the end of the weekend. Browns general manager Tom Heckert admitted Thursday night that the team will consider trading McCoy after selecting Brandon Weeden with the No. 22 pick in the draft. “It’s something we’ll talk about tonight and tomorrow,” Heckert said, via The Plain-Dealer. NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reported Thursday that McCoy is not requesting a trade and is eager to compete with Weeden, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. Translation: McCoy is almost as good as gone. A general manager does not admit publicly that they [...]

Robert Griffin III was all smiles Thursday night, befitting the second player taken in the NFL draft. But backstage at Radio City Music Hall, the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback said his night could have been even better. Griffin told ProFootballTalk.com the Redskins informed him that if they, and not the Indianapolis Colts held the No. 1 pick, they still would have taken him. “They said if Indianapolis would have traded with them and kept Peyton Manning, that they would have drafted me with the No. 1 overall pick,” Griffin said. “So it’s not a shot at anybody, it’s just that they’re [...]

Wes Welker isn’t hesitant to stand up for himself when he believes he has been wronged. He first proved that when he announced he likely won’t attend the New England Patriots’ mandatory June minicamp if he hasn’t received the long-term deal he deserves. Now he has found another fight to pick — this time against ex-Patriots linebacker and current NFL Network analyst Willie McGinest. McGinest said Tuesday on NFL Network that he didn’t “like the diva attitude” coming from Welker, adding: “Let’s keep it real. Prior to the Patriots, this is a guy who played three years, had 96 receptions, [...]
