Danica Patrick is leaving the IndyCar Series behind and will drive in NASCAR full-time starting in 2012. “In breaking news that will shock the world,” Patrick joked Thursday, before announcing her widely-reported plans. The 29-year-old superstar will drive the full NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule next year with Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s race team, JR Motorsports. Updated Aug 22, 2011 3:26 PM ET CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) Crew chief Jerry Baxter said Monday he apologized to Steve Wallace for pulling the drivers’ hair after the Nationwide Series race in Montreal. Baxter was crew chief for Patrick Carpentier, a Canadian driver making the final start of his career in Saturday’s road course race. He was running fourth late in the event when contact with Wallace ended his race.
