Wednesday of Masters week is the day of the Par-3 Contest, which, these days, is televised. And it makes for great television, with legends playing, and with many younger golfers employing their children as caddies. The Augusta Par-3 Course itself makes for great TV, too, with its tiny greens and severe banks sloping down to water. Red Bull’s chief technical officer Adrian Newey was awarded an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for services to motorsport by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in a ceremony at Windsor Castle on Tuesday. Newey’s Red Bull cars have won the constructors’ championship for the past two seasons and he has previously designed machines that have taken titles for Williams and McLaren. Former Formula One driver Nigel Mansell, who won the 1992 world championship in the Newey-designed Williams FW14B, was also in attendance at the ceremony. Pirelli have announced which dry-weather tyres will be available to the teams at rounds four to six of the 2012 season. In Bahrain, medium and soft tyres will be raced in the hot temperatures at Sakhir, whilst in Spain the hard and soft compounds will be used.
