Vettel Holds Off Raikkonen for Sakhir Win

IOC Reassured That London Olympics Within Budget

LAUSANNE, Switzerland – IOC President Jacques Rogge says he has received assurances that the London Olympics remain within budget despite claims of major cost overruns. With the games less than five months away, London organizers delivered their latest progress report Wednesday to the International Olympic Committee executive board. Rogge says “we were reassured” that the public sector budget stands at $ 14.6 billion. That includes a contingency fund of $ 785 million. This Week: Zurich Classic

The PGA Tour takes a detour out of Texas to Louisiana this week for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, where Bubba Watson is the defending champion. So Bubba’s back, his first tournament since winning the 2012 Masters. It’s been quite a few weeks for Watson as he made the media rounds; it will be good to see him back on the course and interesting to note how large are the crowds following his group. Chelsea to Play MLS All-Stars Outside Philadelphia

LONDON — Chelsea will play the MLS All-Stars in Chester, Pa., on July 25 as part of the Premier League club’s tour of the United States. The all-star team from Major League Soccer has taken on English champion Manchester United the last two summers. Chelsea played the all-stars in 2006. Chelsea last month announced an exhibition at the Seattle Sounders on July 18. Former Poland international Peter Nowak will take charge of the MLS All-Stars for the match, which will be played at PPL Park – the home of Philadelphia Union. IOC Working to Get Syrian Athletes to Games

LAUSANNE, Switzerland – The IOC is working with a handful of Syrian athletes to help them qualify for the Olympics, hoping they will make it to the London Games despite the spiral of violence shaking the country.
