SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes have signed two-time MLSleading goal scorer Chris Wondolowski to a new contract. General manager John Doyle announced the deal on Thursday, saying he wantedto reward Wondolowski for his success. Terms were not disclosed. Wondolowski scored 16 goals last season to tie D.C. United’s Dwayne DeRosario for the league lead. Wondolowski had 18 goals the previous season. Hejoined Stern John and Carlos Ruiz as the only players to tie or lead the MLS ingoals in consecutive seasons. Wondolowski has also played five games for the U.S. national team. WASHINGTON – D.C. United have signed midfielder Marcelo Saragosa, whoreturns to MLS after two seasons in Azerbaijan. The 30-year-old Brazilian will be playing for his fourth MLS club. He playedin 116 games with the Los Angeles Galaxy, FC Dallas and Chivas USA from 2004-10.
