Epic Match at Wimbledon

A mesmerized crowd on Court 18 of Wimbledon could not take their eyes off as John Isner and Nicolas Mahut’s struggle carried on to a record 10 hours and 163 games without getting a winner; as bad light ensured the first-round match will go into a third day. Big Teams Back on Track

Portugal dominated Korea DPR at  Green Point Stadium with a 7-0 victory and taking a huge step towards a place in the Round of 16. A Raul Meireles goal separated the two teams after a closely contested first half, while Portugal lay siege at the Korean goal in the second half and devastated their defense with three goals within eight minutes from Simao, Hugo Almeida and Tiago. Top Seeds Starting Slow

Defending champion Roger Federer and No. 3 seed Novak Djokovic both barely escaped their first-round matchups Monday in the first day at Wimbledon. The 16-time Grand Slam champion came back from two sets down to beat Colombian Alejandro Falla 5-7, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-1), 6-0. Djokovic needed five sets to pass over a determined Belgian Olivier Rochus 4-6, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. Phillies Overpower the Yankees

MLB saw a fairytale story come true with an age-defying feat, Phillies pitcher Jamie Moyer threw eight innings of two-run ball and Shane Victorino hit a three-run triple as Philadelphia destroyed the New York Yankees 6-3 on Wednesday. The 47-year-old Moyer made his major league debut exactly 24 years ago to this day and became the oldest pitcher ever to beat the Yankees. Lakers Looking to Settle Score with Celtics

Phil Jackson, coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, established Tuesday that his team intends to take vengeance for its 2008 NBA Finals loss to the Boston Celtics. Deemed to be the ultra-cool team, the Lakers seldom shed their unruffled aptitude. According to the Los Angeles Times, Jackson reportedly said that his team is certainly going to be provoked in the replay this year by reminiscences of last years failure at TD Garden. New Petco Park Record Set As San Diego Beats N.Y. Mets 18-6

The San Diego Padres set the Petco Park scoring record with an 18-6 win over the New York Mets. The credit goes to Jerry Hairston Jr. who knocked a grand slam in the second inning. Chase Headley also pulled a homer down along with his four hits going 4-for-5, helping San Diego win its third straight and seventh of its last nine games.
