DALLAS — Wednesday will mark the first game for James Neal in Dallas since he was traded to the Penguins last February. And the Pittsburgh forward and 2012 NHL All-Star admits he’s hoping for a warm reception from the fans at American Airlines Center after the solid three seasons he had with the Stars. “Yeah, that would be nice,” he said of a positive fan reaction. “I definitely enjoyed my time here. It was a great group of guys, had fun, and on to a new page in my career. It’ll be weird for a bit to start, but I’m [...]

Once you get beyond Peyton Manning and Matt Flynn, the presumed free-agent quarterback pool is extremely shallow. Want proof? Chad Henne — yes, that Chad Henne — will be a hot commodity when the free-agent signing period begins on March 13. FoxSports.com reported Wednesday that Henne could command up to $ 5 million in annual salary, a sizable jump from the sub-$ 3 million most non-demoted backup signal-callers earn. The report contends Henne is a “1A” option, meaning he’s a player who can come in and push (and perhaps pass) the incumbent quarterback on the depth chart. That description would [...]

Goaltending is hockey’s ultimate high-pressure position. No player on the ice carries more weight on his shoulders to play virtually mistake-free hockey than the man behind the mask. That is especially true in Sweden’s Elitserien, which has become of one of the lowest-scoring leagues in the hockey world. This season, the highest-scoring team in the league, AIK Stockholm, has averaged a modest 2.75 goals per game, while the stingiest defensive team, first-place Lulea HC, has allowed just 98 goals through 51 games (1.92 per game). The worst defensive team, last-place Timra IK, has allowed 3.29 goals per game. With goals [...]

Marussia have had to postpone the launch of their 2012 car after it failed its final FIA crash test. The team had originally planned to debut the MR01 at the last pre-season test, which gets underway at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya on Thursday. “All cars are required to pass 18 FIA-observed tests for homologation to be granted,” explained Marussia in a statement. “Despite the fact that the MR01 has passed all 17 of the preceding tests, the regulations require the car to have completed all of the tests before running commences. “The team will now not take part in the [...]

NEW YORK – The judges will be watching – were the competitor’s knees locked? Were the wrists straight? Did the forehead and the knee connect? If not, points are going to be lost. Seeking the perfect pose will be the order of the day at the National Yoga Asana Championship, being put on March 2-4 by an organization that wants to see yoga asana, or posture, competition become an Olympic sport. Wait, competitive yoga? Isn’t that counterintuitive to something that’s usually presented as a spiritual, meditative discipline? Not according to Rajashree Choudhury, who founded USA Yoga, which is holding the [...]
