Auburn’s Dismisses 2 Players, Suspends 3rd

AUBURN, Ala. (CBB/Newsfeed) — Auburn has dismissed two basketball players and suspended a third indefinitely. Coach Tony Barbee said Friday that Cedrick McAfee and Josh Langford were kicked off the team for violating team rules and Noel Johnson is suspended. Barbee says Auburn has no further comment. Langford averaged 5.2 points and 2.1 rebounds as a sophomore. McAfee was redshirted last season. Johnson is a Clemson transfer who played in 19 games and started three last season after becoming eligible following the fall semester. He averaged 2.1 points and 1.5 rebounds. Knicks’ Shumpert Tears ACL, Out for Postseason

MIAMI (NBA/Newsfeed) – Knicks rookie guard Iman Shumpert will miss the rest of the postseason after tearing a left knee ligament in the third quarter of New York’s Game 1 loss to the Miami Heat on Saturday. The Knicks announced Shumpert also tore his lateral meniscus. Surgery will be scheduled in New York and Shumpert is expected to miss approximately six to eight months. Nadal Beats Ferrer for 7th Barcelona Open Win

BARCELONA (ATP/Newsfeed) – Rafael Nadal became the first player in the Open Era to win two tournaments seven times after beating David Ferrer 7-6 (1), 7-5 in Sunday’s Barcelona Open final. Budapest Demo Run for McLaren’s Jenson Button

Budapest (F1/Newsfeed) – McLaren’s Jenson Button will drive through the heart of Budapest on Tuesday. (CFB/Kercheval) – Just days after CBSSports reported that Conference USA was close to adding UT-San Antonio, a former 1-AA program that is supposed to be headed for the WAC, more reports are surfacing that the Mountain West is also on the verge of plucking more teams from its beleaguered western athletic counterpart. The San Jose Mercury News and the Salt Lake Tribune report that San Jose State and Utah State are indeed close to joining the Mountain West, with the former article indicating an invite could come for the Spartans this week for the 2013-14 season.
