Bahrain – (F1/Newsfeed) — Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel leapt back into the limelight – and the lead of the world championship – with victory in Sunday’s 2012 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix. The world champion took the lead from the start and immediately out-paced McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton and team mate Mark Webber. But it did not take long for the strength of the Lotus team threat to make itself felt. First it was Romain Grosjean who came thrusting up to pass Hamilton’s McLaren on the seventh lap. PITTSBURGH — Dealing with the Pittsburgh Penguins’ unexpectedly early playoff ouster is tough enough for general manager Ray Shero and coach Dan Bylsma. What follows could be tougher still – sorting out what went wrong while figuring out how to keep their core of stars together. Shero said Tuesday this will be “a big summer” for the Penguins, who plan to go about business as usual even though a new collective bargaining agreement still must be worked out. And big probably translates into busy. “We have a lot of things moving forward that we have to work on — decisions [...]

We deal with facts. We’ll look at everything to determine if there is anything to follow and see if state laws [...]

LAUSANNE, Switzerland – IOC President Jacques Rogge says he has received assurances that the London Olympics remain within budget despite claims of major cost overruns. With the games less than five months away, London organizers delivered their latest progress report Wednesday to the International Olympic Committee executive board. Rogge says “we were reassured” that the public sector budget stands at $ 14.6 billion. That includes a contingency fund of $ 785 million. Last week, a British oversight committee said the Olympics risked going over budget because of rising security costs, which now exceed more than $ 1.6 billion. Rogge says [...]

ARLINGTON (MLB/) – Derek Jeter is hitting the way he did in his prime and CC Sabathia looks more like his old self with each outing. No wonder the New York Yankees are starting to get on a roll. Jeter had four hits to stretch his hitting streak to 13 games, Sabathia pitched a season-high eight innings and Alex Rodriguez belted a three-run homer in a 7-4 victory over the Texas Rangers on Monday night. “I keep kidding him that it’s like 1999 again – three hits every day. He’s amazing,” Rodriguez said of the 37-year-old Jeter. “He’s playing like [...]
